1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
4 – 6 cups water
1 cup each: carrots, celery and potatoes, chopped
2 teaspoons salt
½ teas. Pepper
1 teas. Meat extract
1 bay leaf, crumbled
Pinch basil
Canned tomatoes to taste
¼ to ½ cup wine
Brown ground beef and onion. Add water and simmer for 20 minutes. Add vegetables, spices and tomatoes and wine. Cook until vegetables are tender. For large amount make four times this recipe — using 3 large cans diced tomatoes.
