1 1/4+1/4 c. luke warm water
2 pkgs yeast
3 Tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 t. salt
1/3 c. butter or oleo–other shortening
1/3 c. molasses
3/4 c. milk
1 c. wheat germ
4 c. whole wheat flour
2 c. white flour
Use very warm water (105-115 degrees) mix with yeast. In saucepan mix 1 1/4 cups water, sugar, salt, 1/3 c. butter and molasses. Heat until butter melts. Cool to lukewarm. Pour scalded milk over wheat germ. Let stand until liquid is absorbed and mixture is lukewarm. To yeast, stir in lukewarm molasses mixture and the lukewarm wheat germ mixture. Mix whole wheat and white flour. Add 1/2 to yeast mixture and beat until smooth. Add rest flour. Knead–Cover with damp towel. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Place in greased loaf pans, let rise 1 1/4 hour. Bake @ 400 for about 50 minutes.
