Boil together 2 minutes 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. water. Core and pare the upper halves of 6 apples. Place in 12×7 1/7×2 baking dish. Pour the syrup around apples. Bake until soft basting occasionally with syrup. Temp: 350. (Mod. oven 45 minutes to 1 hour)
