Baked Custard — Donna Jacobs
6 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teas. salt
1 quart scalded milk
2 teas. vanilla
Nutmeg
Beat eggs, slightly, add sugar and salt and mix well. Add scalding milk gradually stirring with a whisk. Add vanilla.
Pour batter into a buttered 1 1/2 quarts baking dish. Sprinkle on nutmeg just to color top of custard. Place into a shallow pan of warm water. Bake in a 350 degree oven approximately 60 minutes. Knife inserted in center should come out clean. Can be served warm or cold.
