White Bread
Sprinkle 3 pkgs dry yeast over 1/2 c. warm water.
Combine in 5 qt. bowl:
1/2 c. sugar
4 t. salt
1/3 c melted shortening
5 c. water
Stir in 8 c. flour. Add yeast and enough of remaining flour (8-10 c.) to make stiff dough that *dleans bowl when you stir.
Knead 5-8 minutes. Let rise til double. Divide in 1/2–Make loaves with 1/2 and let 1/2 rise til double again and then make rest of loaves. Grease top of loaves lightly. Let loaves rise about 1 hour. Bake @ 400 degrees 40-50 minutes.–Cool thoroughly and wrap to freeze.
To serve let thaw @ room temp. Heat in foil wrapping 375–20 minutes. Open foil last 5 minutes to crisp crust.
