1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 t. salt
1 t. soda
2 t. hot water
3 c. oatmeal
1 t. vanilla
1 pkg. Chocolate chips
1 c. nut meats
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Sift together flour, salt, and add to mixture. Add soda, dissolved in hot water. Stir in oatmeal, chocolate chips, vanilla, and nut meats.
Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet, bake in mod. oven (375) about 12 minutes.
