1 c. shortening
2 c. br. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. nuts
1/4 t. baking pwd.
3 1/2 c. flour
1 t. soda
1 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1/4 c. chopped dates
Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and cream well. Add well-beaten egg. Add nuts and dates chopped finely in food chopper. Add vanilla. Sift flour once before measuring. Sift flour, soda, and salt together and mix into creamed mixture with hands. Form dough into rolls 2″ in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and chill until firm. Slice 1/8 ” thick and bake ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 min. @ 375. Makes about 8 dozen.
