Sift together:
2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1/2 t. soda
Combine 3/4 cup butter, 1 1/2 c. br. sugar, 1/2 c. milk in large saucepan. Bring to boil stirring constantly; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Stir in:
1 c. sifted pwd sugar
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1 t. vanilla
Blend in dry ingredients. Turn into greased 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan or tow 9×9 inch pans
Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes. do not over bake. Cut into squares while warm. Cool. Frost with Penuche Frosting.
Cook over medium heat to 236 F.
2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. milk
1/4 t. salt
Cool to 110
Add 1/4 c. butter 1 t. vanilla
Beat til spreading consistency. If rec, thin with milk.
