Heat the following until shortening is melted:
1 1/2 c. sugar 2 c. raisins
2 c. coffee 1/2 lb. shortening
1 t. salt 1 t. cloves
Cool above and add 1 beaten egg and 3 1/2 c. flour sifted with 1 1/2 t. soda.
Bake at 350 in a 10×15 shallow pan for 30 minutes.
Cover with pwd. sugar lemon frosting.
